Rowena enjoys working with children as artist in residence to help educate children about the importance of looking after our environment through art.
She has conducted workshops with different environmental themes in various schools and organisations. Examples of themes are “Fish of the Swan River”, “My Community”, Plants in the Great Western Woodland”, “Native Flora and Fauna along the Swan River”, “Plant Life in Lake Claremont” and “Native Birds in Perth”.
Schools she has taught at include Christ Church Grammar School, Scotch College, Hollywood Primary School, Frankland Primary School and Millennium Kids Inc as well as after school programmes and private workshops.
“I try not to talk too much it’s the best way to lose the kids focus. They usually can’t wait to get stuck in, so that’s what I try to do. I love to see their creativity and really encourage them to use their own style and most of all have fun!”
