This residence was about the fish of the Swan River and how we can look after our beautiful river. I bought some fish that you can catch in The Swan River and found a couple of dead Blowies on the shore and took them to school for the boys to look at, touch and handle. Of course they loved it and came up with all sorts of conversation about their experiences at the river.
Firstly, we drew the fish from up close observation. Then I taught the boys a bit about paint and mixing colours and how important it is to make your own colours and not use the boring colours straight from the bottle. We then started on the canvas by redrawing the fish and then using their new knowledge of colour mixing painted the fish. The work was amazing- I am always so impressed with what they come up with. We had an exhibition in the school gallery and invited all the parents.
