North Cott Reef 77x77cm oil on canvas $2085

I started my artist in residence at North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club (NCSLSC) in December and painted in and around the club for three months. The light at different times of the day intrigued me so I tried to capture this in my paintings. I especially liked dusk, the beautiful pinks and golds and the shadows that were created by the sinking sun.

The activity at the club created a great vibe especially in the mornings when people where out paddling, swimming and working out at the gym. There were all ages and everyone stopped to talk to me and see what I was up to. My dog Pepper was welcome at the club too.

I also held a kids painting workshop where we explored the beach and dunes looking for found objects and going back to the club to paint. the kids loved it and did some amazing paintings.

The final result was an exhibition at the club with 26 paintings. The opening night was fantastic with about one hundred people attending for sundowner drinks. Chris Shellabear made the opening speech with a beautiful back drop of the sun setting.
